If there were a medal for hush puppies, The Crab Trap would win gold every single time. Absolutely the best I've ever had in my life—crispy, golden perfection on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. Honestly, that alone is worth the visit. But that's just the beginning. Everything here is simply wonderful. From the fresh seafood to the generous portions and friendly atmosphere, it's impossible to pick just one favorite item. Every dish bursts with flavor and care, making each visit a delightful experience. I've made it a tradition: every time I'm in St. Simons Island, I stop here. And every time, I leave thinking about the next visit. If you're looking for food that feels like a celebration of the coast, this is it. Simply unmatched.

Crab Soup
As a seafood lover, I'm thrilled to share my experience at The Crab Trap, a St. Simons Island gem that has been delighting diners since 1975. This family-owned restaurant offers an authentic coastal dining experience that perfectly captures the island's nautical charm. The moment you sit down, you'll notice the unique tables with "the hole" in the middle - perfect for discarding oyster shells and shrimp tails. The menu is a seafood enthusiast's dream, featuring local favorites like fried shrimp, scallops, and their world-famous crab soup. What sets The Crab Trap apart is its commitment to generous portions and versatile cooking styles. Whether you prefer your seafood fried, blackened, broiled, or grilled, they've got you covered. The full-service bar, complete with margaritas and their signature "Blue Crab" cocktail, adds the perfect finishing touch to your meal. Open daily from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM, this restaurant continues to be a beloved island tradition that keeps both locals and tourists coming back for more.
Shrimp Dip
The shrimp dip is the best thing i have ever eaten. In fact craving it right now. We live in middle georgia and have relatives that live on the island, we come visit when we can and they bring to us when they come this way. I have tried to replicate the recipe but unsuccessfully. It is creamy and just has a unique taste and texture that cannot be replicated. Would recommend it to anyone and everyone visiting st simons. The wait is worth it and all the other food on the menu (which i think i have tried everything) is great. I just have a special taste bud for the shrimp dip.
Fried Oysters
Have been eating at the Crab Trap each time I vacation on St. Simons.... the fried oyster dinner is outstanding. Oysters are lightly fried to perfection, the corn in the husk is juicy and wonderful and hush puppies are some of the best I have found anywhere. Always a meal I anticipate and enjoy a time or two on my many visits to the island!

This is one of the best shrimp and grits I've ever had!!! We head to St Simons this weekend! I can't wait to come in again for it!
